Congress Exemptions – Proposed 28th Amendment March 29, 2010

For too long we have been too complacent about the workings of Congress. Many citizens have no idea that members of Congress can retire with the same pay after only one term, that they don’t pay into Social Security, that they specifically exempt themselves from many of the laws they have passed while ordinary citizens must live under those laws.

The latest is to exempt themselves from the Health Care Reform that is being considered…in all of its forms.  Somehow, that doesn’t seem logical (or remotely fair).  We do not have an elite that is above the law. I truly don’t care if they are Democrat, Republican, Independent or whatever.  The self-serving must stop.  This is a good way to do that.  It is an idea whose time has come. This is one proposal that really should be passed around.

Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:

“Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United

Did anyone watch the two girls on Hannity last night? I’m sorry but those girls were ridiculous! All I have to say is if you don’t like Capitalism and the United States… then LEAVE! Move to another country that has the system in place that you like and after you live there for a few years, we’ll see what you think of Capitalism then. Why are we making rich people the enemy? We need rich people because they create jobs and most of them worked really hard to get to where they are. As Glenn Beck puts it, “I’ve never been hired or given a job by a poor man.” Who are you to say how much another person can make and who are you to take money AWAY from someone who earned it and give it to someone who has not? Yeah, let’s start teaching our children that they don’t have to work hard to make it in life because they can just get what they want from someone else who did work for it… does this sound crazy to anyone else but me?

I’m praying for all of the people who lost their family and friends in the 9-11 attacks; I can’t imagine how hard today must be for them.  Thank you to all of the men and women who put their lives on the line everyday to try and keep all of us safe. I’m so proud to be an American and I thank God for allowing me to be born in the U.S.

It upsets me so much when I see on the news how worried some Americans are about the “rights” of evil terrorists. Personally, I don’t think that terrorists have any rights; they gave those up when they didn’t care or observe the rights of the thousands of people that they murdered or tried to kill.

Our music minister said something that is so true Wednesday night at our choir practice. He said, “I know that who was elected as our President is not who a lot of you voted for but we need to remember something, he is OUR new President so we need to pray for him regardless of whether we chose him or not.” I needed to hear that because I didn’t vote for Obama and I didn’t want him to be my President; but, now he is my President and I need to pray for him.
